Keaton Back for ‘Beetlejuice 2′ Only If…

beetlejuice

One sequel I’m dying to see get off the ground is Beetlejuice 2, which already has various key members on record stating they’ll be returning.

Michael Keaton, who starred as the “ghost with the most”, reassured us die-hard fans that he’ll be back so long as Tim Burton directs.

I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff,” Keaton told MTV, speaking that it’s still way early in the process. “I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another.

Now it looks like he is involved,” Keaton continued speaking on Burton directing, “And without giving too much away we’ve talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.

Winona Ryder shared the same sentiments as Keaton back in November. Thanks to Bloody reader ‘Travis E.’ for the tip!

i would love to see Tim direct it . because i feel it would be more authentic and true Tim Burton. i just hope its not heavenly cgi and if Alec and Gina return that would be great. i just hope the plot will be good as well.

I was going to say “as long as he can come back as a ghost”…

  • GoreFanatic78

Really hope Geena Davis comes back as well

  • MachineGunGandhi

I hope Winona Ryder returns. Gawd she is so hawt… I’d smash that like a two-ton hammer *lewd gesture*

This makes me really happy. Let’s get this started! Agreed, GoreFanatic78, I’d love for Geena Davis to return also. Catherine O’Hara, too.

Tim and Keaton are musts. Then Ryder, Geena and Alec, in that order, but if not, the story really needs to be such that they won’t NEED to be there. But since they all reside in that house it’d be difficult to explain their absence. Catherine would be great, too, but not essential.

It’s about time they got their act together and start getting this going. So, quoting Beetlejuice, “YOU BUNCHA LOSERS!!! YOU’RE WORKING WITH A PROFESSIONAL HERE!!! (kicks over a tree) NICE FUCKING MODEL!!!” *honk honk*

I love Beetlejuice, but I don’t know how I feel about there being a sequel. I just hope it’s as good as the first.

I’m trying to keep an open mind, but let’s not forget that Tim Burton has been awful for years and hasn’t made a great original film since Big Fish (Sweeney Todd is an adaptation, Frankenweenie was only ok). Plus, his most recent work has been some of his absolute worst (Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows). While I hope for the best as I LOVE Beetlejuice, I have little faith in Burton.

I didn´t like Frankenweenie as much as some other people (i think it was good but could have been a lot better) but it looks like Burton is ready to make movies like the ones that granted him the respect and fame that he earned, due to the style of Frankenweenie wich remind us to his first great movies

  • Ga5ton

It seems like this movie is going to be awesome!

I´m still waiting for a Stain Boy movie

I think they’ve waited too long for this. A script would have to include a huge time gap between the films and try to include things aimed at the new generation of film goers. They wouldn’t be able to assume everyone watching it knows and has seen the original Beetlejuice. If they made a sequel back in the day, they could do a straight storyline that didn’t have to target new fans and what not. I can see already before its even up and going that if you were to watch the first and the future sequel back to back, it would just feel wrong. It’d be kinda like seeing Star Wars IV back in the day and then seeing the next installment (which for arguments sake Ill say is Episode 1) many years later. It just looks and feels wrong
