After breaking box office records, Warner Bros. and New Line quickly began developing out the newly minted The Conjuring franchise, based on the allegedly true stories of the Warrens. Now, the studios are claiming the month of October for the next few years…

First, Warner and New Line are releasing a currently untitled horror film in theaters on October 3, 2014. While the now-filming spin off Annabelle was said to be a direct-to-disc/VOD release, it’s very possible that the studio has decided to push it out in theaters. This may and may not be Annabelle, and we’re working to confirm. Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard and Ward Horton are starring in Annabelle with John Leonetti, the cinematographer on The Conjuring, directing from a script by Gary Dauberman. Eric Ladin and Brian Howe also star.

The Conjuring included a haunted doll named Annabelle as part of a collection of demonic objects assembled by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

Speaking of The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 has been penciled down for release on October 23, 2015, taking that weekend away from a potential sixth Paranormal Activity. Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes are penning the sequel.

They would be stupid to release Annabelle straight to DVD. I didn’t even know that was an option for them, considering how successful The Conjuring was. Either way, I’m excited for both movies. When I read that about an untitled Warner/New Line film coming out, I couldn’t help but think of Final Destination. Wishful thinking, considering we would already have news on an FD6, but a man can dream right?

    Conjuring was stupid.
