Watchmen‘s Malin Akerman, pictured below, and “American Horror Story’s” Taissa Farmiga, above, will star in Groundswell Productions’ comedy The Final Girls, which was grabbed by Sony Pictures Worldwide for distribution.
Sounding a bit like Last Action Hero, the film is “the tale of the grieving daughter of a 1980s scream queen who finds herself trapped in her mother’s most famous film. The women are reunited and must fight off the film’s maniacal killer before the daughter can return to her life.”
Production is scheduled to commence in Louisiana in April.
Screen Daly adds that Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) will direct The Final Girls. M A Fortin and Joshua John Miller co-wrote the screenplay and Michael London and Janice Williams are producing.
