Revenge is a dish best served cold…

On March 4 Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-Wook’s 2003 new classic, Oldboy, which I felt got a pretty bad rap. While the film isn’t nearly as shocking or impactful as the original (I blame the writers for making Brolin such an evil character), it’s stunning to look at, features incredible sets, and is insanely brutal. Frankly, I liked it.

Those of you familiar with the original will enjoy the following exclusive clip that teases the new shocking finale, which plays out quite differently than Chan-wook’s version.

In addition, we have (10) copies of the DVD for you to enter to win. Al you have to do is put OLDBOY in the subject line and send me your FULL NAME and address to submit@bloody-disgusting.com. Winners chosen at random. U.S. only and no POX boxes.

Joe Doucette is a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.

Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Samuel Jackson, James Ransone star.

The remake of the cult classic 2003 Korean film of the same name is directed by Spike Lee from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich. The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane, with Joe Drake, John Powers Middleton and Peter Schlessel serving as executive producers.

Awesome I hope I win, side not I too felt that this movie/ remake got a bad wrap….of course it can never be as good as the original but i felt it was a good watch nonetheless

Indeed, I felt it was an ok movie personally. The only part I was truly disappointed in, was the hallway fight. In the original version it was one long uncut shot. In this one, half way, the angle changes with the camera cutting away, it takes away from the effect of the scene making it ‘just another fight’.
