‘Gravity’ Wins 7 Oscars, Including Best Director!

This has been quite a night for Warner Bros. and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, which won a whopping 7 Oscars for “Best Visual Effects,” “Sound Mixing,” “Sound Editing,” “Cinematography,” “Film Editing,” “Original Score,” and “Best Director.”

It’s so awesome to see a genre film represented – and kicking ass – in the Academy Awards!

You can read our review here.

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone‹tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.

This is a drama film not horror or thriller. A hornoable mention would have been Karen Black being included in the memoriam of passed away talents at the oscars.

@RubenVeritas, I AGREE 1000%. Karen Black was a wonderful actress.

Gravity did exceed my expectations but I still hate the Oscars and everything it represents.

kinda weird that 12 years a slave only wins two other awards and yet it still gets the best picture award even though gravity got 7!? I’m only happy that american hustle didn’t get any, that movie just wanted it way to badly. Gravity should have won simply because it is a movie in it’s purest form, this wouldn’t have worked in any other medium (comic book maybe).

“I’m only happy that american hustle didn’t get any, that movie just wanted it way to badly.”

Agreed. American Hustle is my pick for the most overrated and over hyped movie on 2013, easily.

It’s a beautiful movie, basic almost non existent story, Oscar nomination for S.bullock – joke, her best performance is still the one from Demolition Man… It is like Discovery Channel 80m long show with A-List cast…

i know i’m in the minority i didn’t really care for the movie. i wished i liked it but it was barely ok. not a bad movie or anything and i can see why people liked it but it just wasn’t for me.

I loved GRavity. By far one of the best films ever. It really spoke to my hear the whole message and of course my own intepretation. Powerful stuff, one of the films that come once in a lifetime in my humble opinion
