‘Fran Bow’ Developer Aiming For A Summer Release

Developer Killmonday Games, who we chatted with recently about their upcoming indie horror game Fran Bow has narrowed down the expected release window a bit in a post on the game’s Steam page, saying they are “aiming to have the game finished in the end of July or middle of August, We don’t want to ensure anything yet until we are working on the last touch… Just so we know that we can deliver.” So it’ll be done when it’s done, but that time should come soon.

On the topic of why Fran Bow is taking so long to complete, the dev explains that it isn’t a simple game. Judging by its fantastically creepy demo, I’d be inclined to agree. The ability to switch between a “sane” and “insane” version of the world makes things a wee bit more involved, and while the mental institution is the only environment we’ve seen, it’s not the only locale in the game.

“Also we are trying to make the puzzles unique from each other. There is no copying code or reusing old puzzles, everything is made to be unique for the story to progress with each puzzle you solve, and the amount of interaction and items you can collect should satisfy your adventurous needs and more!” the dev continued.

I don’t know about you, but I’m more than willing to wait for this. A wise man once said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” This applies here.

    I played the demo a while ago, and it was very impressive. It has a unique style and interesting story. I am very much looking forward to the final product, but I concur with you final statement. It is far better that they take there time and create the best game they can, rather then rush and create a flawed piece of work.
