‘Godzilla’ Kaiju Monster, Muto, Looks Like ‘Cloverfield’ Giant

Get your first look at another giant monster from Warner Bros.’ Godzilla reboot.

CBN scored some sneaky shots of this summer’s Godzilla toys, ones which are a bit revealing.

The below stills share our first ever glimpse at the Kaiju monster, Muto, which looks shockingly similar to Paramount’s Cloverfield creature. No?

Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla opens May 16, 2014, and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

it does kinda look CLOVERFIELD-ish and kinda spider-ish. i guess the rumored(?)/behind the scenes little leaks about there being a spidery type creature was true. looks/sounds good to me!

  • Damn. Now I’m thinking about Cloverfield II again after blocking it for so long. I’m trying to move on, man!

Yeah, you can see the resemblance, easily. Good stuff.

    • djblack1313

@Zombie-Killa, i know what you mean. every time i successfully block out/forget about the STILL unreleased AfterDark zombie movie RE-KILL, someone will mention it or something will trigger me remembering it! LOL.

i wish that movie would fucking come out! 🙂

      • “every time i successfully block out/forget about the STILL unreleased AfterDark zombie movie RE-KILL”

Lol! I feel the same way about The Poughkeepsie Tapes!

Funny thing is, I’ll completely forget about Cloverfield, until I’m lurking around on here, and there’s a post or mention about it somewhere. It’s to the point, where I avoid watching the Cloverfield DVD I have, because I’ll start thinking about the sequel for the 10,00th time. Yeah, it’s that serious. lol.

        • djblack1313

Zombie-Killa, i’ll try to word this carefully so as not to get my comment deleted but POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES has been available online for a LONG time now. i’ve had the movie for several years now. it’s in the usual “bad” places (torrents).

          • Oh yeah, I know what you’re talking about with bad places for The Poughkeepsie Tapes online, but I’m dying for a DVD. You know, something to own, because it’s one of my favorite found-footage horror films, and that’s saying something for me, because I usually HATE found-footage horror films.

As far as the Cloverfield sequel goes, we can still dream, right? 🙂 Someday my friend, someday. lol.

        • djblack1313

oh and i’d freaking love a CLOVERFIELD sequel! i’m right there w/ you my friend. 🙂

        • Kwonkicker

Let’s start a petition: Give us Cloverfield II/Release Poughkeepsie Tapes.

          • Ha! Now that’s what I call dedication. Although, I think we’ll have a better chance with Poughkeepsie Tapes DVD. Then, we can start a campaign for The Poughkeepsie Tapes II after the DVD release. lol.

  • distancing itself as far as possible from “cloverfield” would only help this movie

While the basic body type is similar, even the little bits released have shown that this new monster will be fairly different. It looks far bigger for one thing, not to mention red glowing limbs.

Also, Cloverfield was quite successful. Not really a stigma to overcome.

      • Raven1417

Josh, I think Gabbi is referring to the fact that Cloverfield was a terrible film in every sense of the word.

  • NixEclips

    The head looks like Gyaos.

  • spaulding187

Loved Cloverfield, LOSLESS audio sounds amazing on blu ray….

  • LuJr81

I also enjoyed Cloverfield and really hope they make a sequel one day. But man I cannot wait for this new Godzilla movie to come out! Im really anxious to see what monsters Godzilla will duke it out with, so ready for this!

  • John Marrone

Godzillas fought them all from Gamera to Mothra to king Kong. How mad cool would it be if this was a Godzilla vs. Cloverfield film – would suck in the entire monster movie fan base here and world wide. They can’t be smart enough to pull that off though. Too many rights involved, I imagine. perfect plot tho for ol zilla.

    • BURKE

Godzilla never fought Gamera. All of the other monsters in this film are new. Legendary only got the rights to Big-G.

  • Nurse Derpusheen

    Looks like fun

  • Superalias

It’s a monster. Or (if you want to be pretentious) a “kaiju”.

    But “Kaiju monster”? No.

  • Ocrisia

Why did they change Godzilla’s roar? I love that roar…
