I’m a huge Mark Duplass fan, which started when I attended the world premiere of Baghead back in 2008. Since then he’s become an indie legend of sorts, although he’s always strayed from horror.
Even though Baghead isn’t truly a genre film, it was directed in a way that I knew he could kill it had he decided to take horror straight on. Thankfully, he knocked it out of the park with Creep, which just had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival.
“If Creep doesn’t scare the shit out of you, you’ve got a problem,” Evan Dickson so boldly states in the title of his review.
“Without spoiling anything, I would hope that none of us have experienced a turn of events that even remotely resembles what begins to happen in Creep around the halfway point (and keeps getting worse from there),” he adds. “That’s when the film’s tone effortlessly slides into something truly menacing.“
