Schwarzenegger Says ‘Terminator: Genesis’ Feels More Like ‘T2’ Than The Other Entries

While we’ve all heard whispers of what the plot for Terminator: Genesis might be, a time travel saga that addresses events from prior entries, we haven’t really heard much about the film’s tone. Now, Collider has an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger himself that addresses the issue – in a manner many of you will be happy with. He tells the site, The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2. It’s big. There’s hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It’s not a Thor type of movie, even though it’s the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, “Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?

In the rest of the interview he says one of the reasons he was asked back is because he’s stayed in shape. Granted, he’s in much much better shape than most people in their 60’s, but I’m still not sure I can see him owning the role again. I will be happy to be proven wrong though.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script. In theaters July 1, 2015, Emilia Clarke is on board to play Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke will play John Connor. Jai Courtney is playing Kyle Reese. J.K. Simmons plays an alcoholic detective trying to make sense of the events of 1984. Alan Taylor is directing.

“a time travel saga that addresses events from prior entries,”

I’ve seen this in other places, but that sounds eerily familiar to the storyline in Back To The Future II, when Doc and Marty traveled to 1955 to stop the old Biff, because Biff gave the sports almanac to himself to create the powerful and rich Biff in the alternate 1985.

I’m still unsure about this. I tried to keep an open mind for Salvation after the first trailer, and the end result was a massive turd.

T2 is my favorite action movie of all time. I’ll keep an open mind. At the same time, why does it have to be like the 2nd? What happened to originality?

Putting aside that Arnie is 67 (!!!) I would like to see a good Terminator movie – let’s all pretend part 4 does not exist and part 3 is more of a parody of this series… Cast seems interesting apart from that Jai Courtney fella… he lacks any charisma whatsoever…

This kinda reminds me of when a band puts outs a great album, then follows it up with a bunch of duds. Then they say that their new album is going to be like Part II of the the good one, but it never is.

Still, T2 is probably my favorite movie of all time, so I would gladly love to be proven wrong.
