While we’ve all heard whispers of what the plot for Terminator: Genesis might be, a time travel saga that addresses events from prior entries, we haven’t really heard much about the film’s tone. Now, Collider has an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger himself that addresses the issue – in a manner many of you will be happy with. He tells the site, The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2. It’s big. There’s hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It’s not a Thor type of movie, even though it’s the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, “Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?”
In the rest of the interview he says one of the reasons he was asked back is because he’s stayed in shape. Granted, he’s in much much better shape than most people in their 60’s, but I’m still not sure I can see him owning the role again. I will be happy to be proven wrong though.
Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script. In theaters July 1, 2015, Emilia Clarke is on board to play Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke will play John Connor. Jai Courtney is playing Kyle Reese. J.K. Simmons plays an alcoholic detective trying to make sense of the events of 1984. Alan Taylor is directing.
