Finally some word on that top secret M. Night Shyamalan project, which is being pegged at the director’s first micro-budgeted feature.

TheWrap scored first casting news, revealing that Shyamalan’s Sundowning stars Tomorrowland‘s Kathryn Hahn, pictured, and rising child actor Ed Oxenbould.

In some very early, but vague plot details, Hahn plays a single mother whose two young children visit their grandparents… and things go very wrong. Oxenbould plays her son, who is protective of his sister.

Doing some research, “sundowning” is described as a psychological phenomenon associated with increased confusion and restlessness in patients with some form of dementia. Symptoms also include agitation and mood swings.

Shyamalan is producing with Marc Bienstock and Ashwin Rajan, while Steven Schneider of Room 101 is executive producing. Production has nearly wrapped in Shyamalan’s home base of Pennsylvania.

Someone’s letting him make another movie?

Dude got lucky with Sixth Sense and hasn’t made a decent flick since.

i’m in. i really like Katheryn Hahn and the fact M. Night is making this on a “micro budget” could force him to make a tight, thriller.

Everyone knows it- M. Night is a horrible director now. But I’m really not bothering unless the critical acclaim is up there. The critics weren’t too harsh on “The Village” (more mixed than anything), and I still thought it was awful. It seems like a really good M-Night movie is one that’s Certified Fresh or scores above a 73% at least on the Rotten Tomato meter.

I know it’s “cool” to diss M. Night Shyamalan when there are directors who are definitely worse than him — but he really is pretty bad at filmmaking. I had the misfortune to watch After Earth and it most certainly showed what disasters he’s capable of.
