[TV] Next On “Hannibal”: Just How Dark and Dreary Will They Go?!

I’m just now watching last night’s “Hannibal” and can’t believe how dark, dreary and daring they’ve gone. This episode carries some of the most disturbing imagery I’ve ever seen on television; I can easily see this causing casual viewers to tune out. Unfortunately, this is what makes this show a million times better than “The Walking Dead,” yet millions more people watch that. Go figure…

Anyways, Will Graham’s problems continue next Friday in Episode 2.5, “Mukozuke”: “When Will assists with a profile he reveals the Chesapeake Ripper and the Copycat Killer are the same person; Will asks Freddie Lounds to help him contact his admirer; Alana becomes suspicious of Will.

This is my favorite show on television. I agree, it kicks the shit out of walking dead.

i agree this show fucking rules! i knew it was coming…but i’m bummed that SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Beverly became a victim of Hannibal’s. i love the writing (along with everything else on the show…cinematography, music, etc) on this show but i HATE that they had Beverly do the cliche slasher movie move. instead of leaving IMMEDIATELY with the PROOF SHE HAD IN HER HANDS that Hannibal was a killer, what does she do? she goes down to the creepy basement!! Beverly has been incredibly smart and not reckless and then just to move the plot along they write her character to act like a total bimbo.

    still an awesome show though!

Indeed. But not ONLY that, even if she DID go into that room? Why on earth did she insist on going all the way in?

      Here’s me…

“Oh look. A deep, sort of lit area. Hannibal could be back soon. Oh look I have a phone camera that is 13mp!” *KERCHICK KERCHIK!* “AND IM OUTTA HERE! FUCK YA LECTER!”

As I run out, yes, Lecter does burst up out of his Basement after me, but by the time he does? I’m already half way down the building, by the time he gets to the bottom, I’m in my car on the way to the FBI evidence in hand where I will be safe safe safe as I scream at the top of my lungs entering the building ‘I HAVE PROOF HANNIBAL LECTER IS A MURDERER AND HE IS CHASING ME!’

      *ahem* Anyhow…

It seemed like he was in the house all along, he wasn’t just waiting in the basement. Watch it again. I know your complaints, and I agree to a degree, but Beverly was doomed the minute she walked into Hannibal’s house. The info she got about him being gone was a ruse. Notice how slowly she entered into the basement (once she was down there), she got about halfway and BAM “Lights On!” with Hannibal in the background. I think he was watching her all along and when he saw she grabbed the evidence from the fridge was waiting to pounce. I mean, what else was he doing down there? I’ve read a lot of threads where people thought he was waiting down there, but I really don’t see that. I may be wrong, but it lends a lot more credibility to her actions. It was a Catch 22.

I did cringe at the basement cliche, but I agree with you; Lecter was there waiting — he did not stay long at the hospital because he had to go home to catch what he baited.

        weresmurf, LOL. exactly!! 🙂

in all fairness, she is an FBI agent and she was armed so checking out the creepy hallway is her job, but she should have called it in for back up

I too love this show to death. The subtle nods to “Silence of the Lambs” are brilliant. (i.e. Will’s poses in his cell similar to Hannibal from SotL, “quid pro quo” with Chilton, etc.)

I believe part of the reason this show is in question for cancellation is the time slot/night it’s on. I think if it were changed to Sunday or Monday night at 10 would be a better fit. But that’s just me.

If they could just give it a season 3 I’m sure they could wrap the show up in a great tiny arc.

Personally I want at least 5 seasons, ala Breaking Bad, which I feel for a show like this would be the perfect run. But even 3, Wills fall, Wills Redemption, Hannibals Fall, would be a suitable run.

Hannibal is simply brilliant. My favorite show along with The Americans right now. (It’s just not fair to compare anything with Game Of Thrones, that’s movie quality stuff and obviously the best)

Hannibal and the Following are my two favs right now that True Detective is over, with The Americans being right behind.

Weresmurf and the gang, it is funny you mention about making Season 3 with a good arc, but the thing is Fuller has had dreams all along of getting 7 seasons out of this who. Come hell or high water he says it will happen. Here is the plan, according to an interview, so I hope i get this right:

Season 1-3 will be original material to set up Season 4 being Silence of the Lambs, Season 5 being Red Dragon, Season 6 being Hannibal with Season 7 being again original material to end it all up. He will use some stuff from the books that maybe most people didn’t like but really its served as filler. He already has it all set up to go 7 seasons. This show is brilliant, smart, and funny too ironically. Amazing these shows get a small audience despite being such critically acclaimed shows. Another one that comes to mind is Enlisted, stuck on late Friday night as Hannibal, but the show is hilarious and heartwarming as well. If I am Netflix and/or Hulu or Amazon, Hannibal needs to be the first show you pick up for a binge watching show. Either that or send it to A&E with Bates Motel, or AMC with The Walking Dead or Sundance with a great show called Rectify. But his plan is brilliant and cannot wait to see if NBC goes through with allowing it to happen. I was surprised as hell that they picked up a Season 2, but with how bad their channel is to have a slight hit is better than nothing. Either way, wanted to pass this information along.

I agree with everyone here about this being one hell of a show! If we really get 7 seasons out of this – damn, can’t wait! Simply brilliant, no other words for it!
