I’ve always been a fan of 1979’s Alien, the Ridley Scott-directed film that introduced the world to the terrifying yet strangely beautiful xenomorph. It’s a fantastic film that horrifies with layer after layer of thick, claustrophobic atmosphere, compounded by a wonderful score (courtesy of Jerry Goldsmith).
But none of that would’ve been possible without the art direction and creature design of artist H.R. Giger, whose vision crafted a villain that still terrifies and entrances audiences.
