Aussie Horror ‘Throwback’ Gets Festival Premiere

The new Australian horror feature Throwback will have its North American premiere at the upcoming Famous Monsters Film Festival in San Jose, California. The festival runs from 17th-18th May in conjunction with Big Wow ComicFest, one of the largest pop culture conventions in Northern California.

Throwback is about two modern-day treasure-hunters, a female park ranger and an embittered ex-cop who encounter a Yowie, a savage Bigfoot-like creature, in the jungles of northern Australia. An homage to pulp adventure thrillers and monster movies of yesteryear, Throwback stars Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring, Melanie Serafin and Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior, Commando).

Writer/director Travis Bain and actors Shawn Brack and Vernon Wells will make special appearances at the festival. Bain says he is “ecstatic” about Throwback‘s impending US debut.

Throwback has not yet secured a distributor but is expected to be acquired and released later in 2014.
