[Exclusive] ‘Dream Police’ Character Sketches, A New Series From J. Michael Straczynski

Bloody-disgusting is stoked to exclusively debut a collection of early character sketches from “Dream Police”, the latest comic book series from prolific writer J. Michael Straczynski and Joe’s Comics, an imprint of Image Comics. The book is a bizarre take on the detective genre, throwing nods at the surrealist art movement and the strange world of our dreams. The concept art looks right up my alley, with plenty of horrific oddities.

Hit the jump for a series synopsis as well as character sketches from artist Sid Kotian. The first issue will debut on April 30, 2014.

Dream Police follows Detectives Joe Thursday and Frank Stanford as they navigate the dreamscape. Joe and Frank have been partners for as long as they can remember, patrolling the alternate universe of dreams, nightmares, and the great void beyond, an alternate but very real dimension of changelings, echoes, wisps, ethers, and nightwalkers, those that died in their sleep and wander the dreamscape forever.

The Dream Police have seen it all. But when Frank steps away and disappears… and the woman who returns says she’s Joe’s partner, that she’s always been Joe’s partner… he begins a journey into the unknown that will shake the dreaming down to its very foundation.
