Warner Bros. Eats After Midnight, Reboots ‘Gremlins’

In an article over at Aint it Cool News discussing a second Goonies, they tease that Warner Bros. Pictures is moving quickly on rebooting Joe Dante’s Steven Spielberg-produced Gremlins, which doesn’t come as much of a shocker considering it has been in the pipeline for years. Frankly, I just wanna see the little misfits back on the big screen one more time.

In Dante’s ’84 film, a boy (Zach Galligan) inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet, and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. The film spawned a sequel, the 1990 Gremlins 2: The New Batch, in which Gremlins take total control over the building of a media mogul.

The two films have grossed more than $190M worldwide.

Truthfully in this day and age I’m not sure whether to be excited or terrified that this is being greenlit. Hopefully it will not run rampant with CGI gremlins, but unfortunately I’m sure that that’s how it will turn out, but I’ll naively hold on to a bit of faith for it due to my undying love for the original.

I’m happy because I love Gremlins, but I know it’s going to be filled with CGI. I guess there’s no stopping that. I’m just asking for it to not look terrible.

I feel the same way about this as I did after watching the trailer for the new tmnt movie. I’m willing to give it a chance only because of how much I adore the original. I’m not holding much hope that it’ll be good, though.

I just hope someone at Warner Bros. is reading this; Avoid CGI and make a shed load more cash! It’s not rocket science.

A Goonies SEQUEL is ok, but REBOOTING Gremlins? No. Just… no.
