Rotting New Look At ‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero’! (Exclusive)

Fans of Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, don’t lose you’re skin, you can head back to the beginning this summer…

Bloody Disgusting received exclusive imagery and first word that Cabin Fever: Patient Zero will be hitting VOD platforms June 26 and limited theaters August 1 through RLJ/Image Entertainment.

Directed by Altitude‘s Kaare Andrews, and starring Sean Astin, Currie Graham and Ryan Donowho, the prequel was penned by genre writer Jake Wade Wall (The Hitcher, Amusement, When a Stranger Calls).

A group of friends planned the perfect vacation in the Caribbean, but when they head ashore to explore a remote island, their ultimate bachelor weekend devolves into their worst nightmare. After an ill-fated swim in contaminated water, they stumble upon a seemingly abandoned research facility where a deadly, flesh-eating virus has been unleashed.

Check out the batch of gruesome stills, exclusive to Bloody Disgusting!

    Loved the toilet picture!

Mr.D, could you just, please, fix that “you’re” on the first line? It really hurts.

The toilet picture looks lousy imo, the prosthetics & make up looks unconvincing on the back because it doesn’t go ‘inward'(how can it though if they’re using a real body) and instead protrudes outward as if somebody applied a thick layer of makeup+Spine on somebodies back(Oh wait…)

They could of opted for CG, to GET the inward effect, but it most likely would of looked fake. I would of gone old school and got a fake body for the perfect and disgusting inward effect. They could of had the actress’s real body hiding in the ground with her head poking out of the dummy body plus her arms. 😛 just saying! Won’t be watching this either way haha

this movie (from what i saw of it) was definitely better than the god awful part 2 but it also wasn’t good enough to keep my attention the whole movie. i stopped watching about 20 minutes before the ending. bug again, from what i saw of it, it IS better than part 2.

I, unlike the vast majority of the horror community, enjoyed Part 2 as simple, mindless entertainment. I just watched Patient Zero today, and while it has it’s strong suits, some awesome gore effects, it was lacking in some other areas. The story was a tad bit convoluted, gone are the awesome hallucinations the victims experience because of the virus, and instead we get super aggressive people who get infected. All in all, it was entertaining, but nothing can top Eli Roth’s masterpiece of body horror. I suggest checking this one out if you liked the first (or, god forbid, the 2nd one, as I did) to see some sweet effects, but the story wears a tad thin. Here’s hoping Pandemic (the sequel to the prequel) will deliver a bit more.

Didn’t Eli and Ti West direct the first two. I don’t know how I feel about the new director. I like my horror done by less prominent directors, but I am a bid fan of Eli Roth, prefer he did it himself. The problem is, I checked IMDB and Eli has no affiliation with the movie, he isn’t even producing it.

This is going to be one of those non-revolving sequels to a solid movie. Which is just like Cabin Fever 2, but at least we had Ti West handling it. This new one can either be a bomb, or could be an awesome cult movie. It is all up to the director.

    Oh, good. A prequel.
