Early Design For ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’ Remake

A little fun “what if?” appeared over at SYTD this morning as they shared the above pictured maquette from the now defunct Creature from the Black Lagoon remake, which once has The Crazies‘ Breck Eisner attached to direct.

The site explains that they had previously seen what Spectral Motion had in mind for Creature from the Black Lagoon and that this maquette, on display at the Creature Features in Burbank, is what was once in the works (although not necessarily what would have been used).

Milicent Patrick created the look for the 1954 classic about a strange prehistoric beast that lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. In the original, a group of scientists try to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study.

Eisner is no longer attached and the movie isn’t currently in development anymore.
