‘Winter Solider’ Writer Pens ‘Maniac Cop’ Remake!

A week ahead of the upcoming Cannes market, Wild Bunch has revealed they will be producing a remake of William Lustig’s 1988 cult classic Maniac Cop.

ScreenDaily reports that the production is spearheaded by Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, who is producing alongside Lustig, director of the original, and Wild Bunch. The director will be announced in Cannes, which means it probably isn’t going to be Lustig, as previously thought.

The remake of 1980s cult classic Maniac Cop revolves around the hunt for a New York serial killer.

The script is written by Ed Brubaker, whose credits include the fantastic Captain America: The Winter Soldier! How about that!?

They should bring in Frank to do this remake as well. Not first person, but that man seems to understand lustig’s motivations.
