Steven Wilson Posts ABBA “The Day Before You Came” Cover

Steven Wilson is easily one of my favorite songwriters in today’s generation. His work in Porcupine Tree and Blackfield is nothing short of fantastic and his production work with Opeth really added a lot of depth and dimension to their already stellar work.

That’s why it’s really fascinating to hear about his upcoming solo album Cover Version, which features six original tracks and six covers that give an insight to Wilson’s musical influences. This album takes the material the limited edition Cover Verion singles series offered between 2003 and 2010. Coming out July 8th, you can pre-order the album here.

Below you can hear Wilson’s cover of “The Day Before You Came”, which was originally written and recorded by ABBA. It’s a somewhat mournful version, especially considering the somewhat upbeat nature of the original.
