‘Pacific Rim’ Star Enters the ‘Spectral’

Captain Phillips, Saving Private Ryan, Sabotage and Pacific Rim‘s Max Martini, pictured, is the latest to join Legendary Pictures‘ supernatural thriller Spectral, which stars World War Z‘s James Badge Dale and is being directed by Nic Matthieu, reports Deadline.

The original treatment for the pic, which Legendary is calling “a supernatural Black Hawk Down,” was purchased from Ian Fried. The script was penned by George Nolfi with a rewrite by John Gatins.

As previously reported, the premise of the project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural. Sources say the pitch has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.
