Believe it or not, Paramount Pictures’ 2013 Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was a monster success. Even though it only took in $55M domestically, it turned in $225M worldwide. Not too shabby.
It’s also no surprise that, with a hit like that, Paramount is moving head with a sequel, Paramount Pictures International svp, EMEA Edward Ryan told CineEurope attendees.
Both Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are presumably attached to return as Hansel & Gretel, two bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.
Tommy Wirkola directed the first film.
