Disney’s “Mr. Boogedy” Available On Amazon Instant!

When I was seven, ABC aired a made-for-TV movie called “Mr. Boogedy” – and it scared the living shit out of me. Why? I could’t tell you, especially since the movie has been lost in the sands of time.

Directed by Oz Scott and written by Michael Janover, the 1987 “Mr. Boogedy” starred the great Richard Masur, as well as Mimi Kennedy, in a film where a family finds their new house is haunted by the ghost. It aired as an episode of “The Disney Sunday Movie”.

I guess it was successful enough to warrant a sequel, “Bride of Boogedy,” in which Mr. Boogedy returns, and will not stop until he get his revenge.

Anyways, I haven’t been able to hunt this movie down for quite some time and forgot about it – until Bloody regular Matthew wrote in about it popping up on Amazon Instant! Although it’s not in HD (it was probably on film), you can rent or buy it here. The sequel is also available right here.

Do you guys remember this movie? Was it scary to a small child? How is it now? I’m definitely renting it this weekend.

Sweet! I’ve had VHS sourced copy for years but it’s good to finally see an upgrade, even if it is just VOD.

    • What?!?! no way? I tried SO hard to find a copy of the VHS version but never got any luck. However there was this one time where the Disney online movie club/store or whatever had it available at one point but not anymore. I think you had to be a member in order to buy it or something.

With the glowing footprints that could be pulled off the wall. I remember this. Have seen this since I was tiny.

    • Give it a shot! If you really want to, just go on youtube since the full tv movie is available to watch but the quality isn’t as good as the amazon digital version.

How old were you to be scared of kids stuff? 4 or 5? At least I hope so, because it makes me feel a lot better. I thought I was a wimp growing up around the ages of 8-12 for finding adult horror movies (mostly slashers) scary.

BRIDE OF BOOGEDY is literally my favorite movie of all time! I’ve seen it literally hundreds of times 🙂

    • I thought the bride of boogedy wasn’t as good as Mr. Boogedy but that’s just my opinion since Mr. Boogedy was creepy/scary as hell when I was a kid!

      • Luke

I actually saw BRIDE OF BOOGEDY first (I tracked the first one down years later) so hearing the family referring to their first encounter with Boogedy was much scarier in my mind than seeing it!

I remember that there were parts that freaked me out, (I’m the same age as you Brad) but only remember some imagery but not really the movie itself. I’m sure it would be quite funny to watch it now after seeing what I’ve seen since then.

Best news of the day! Loved both of these movies as a kid. Crazy to believe that this was by Disney.

    • I know right?!?! I tried so HARD to find a copy or some way to buy it and found out that Disney used to tell it from their movie club thing or whatever but I don’t believe its available to buy anymore since last time I checked it wasn’t available. When I first saw this as a kid and my mother recorded it because I was with my grandma house for the weekend but when i first saw it, I couldn’t believe how creepy it was! Especially the green glow stuff from Mr. Boogedy

I’ve never even heard of this movie. I’ll have to watch it some time.

    • Yeah not everyone got a chance to saw this classic tv movie but it may not be enjoyable for you unless you saw it as a kid and if that’s the case then I suggest you hit up since the entire tv movie is available to watch on youtube.

  • Yay! Brad posted my tip! I just HAD to send this to Brad of bloodydisgusting because this was one of those RARE tv movies that aired on television back in the day that was actually creepy or spooky for kids during that time. What’s so crazy is that this movie has never been released on DVD or anything but it used to be available to buy from the Disney vault store thing or whatever but not anymore. Once I saw this appear on amazon, I truly couldn’t believe it because I recently re-watched Mr. Boogedy last year on youtube.

I was about 6 years old when this came out on TV, I remember my friends thinking it was a lot scarier than I did, but I was already watching real horror movies by then

    Boogedy Boogedy Boogedy… Kidding!

  • El_Jay

I fucken loved the movies!! thank god my mom taped them on VHS for me as a kid. I’d watch them all day.

  • Joshua Alt

I actually love Bride of Boogedy more and would love to own both on DVD but as far as I know they haven’t been released yet on DVD. Will have to watch it on Amazon Instant thought.

  • Sammy Lane

*sigh*..Right before Disney made everything they made sound so bland and without human thought.

  • bob

HOLY SHIT! I remember this movie and the sequel from my childhood, but have never been able to find it or find anyone else who remembered it.

  • Queenathand
