[Toys] NECA’s Ellen Ripley Revealed! #SDCC

Published

on

While it’s nothing compared to the expensive Hot Toys dolls announced earlier today, NECA has finally revealed the long-awaited, and absolutely gorgeous Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) from their Alien action figure line. The news first came on Figures.

The toys are part of NECA’s celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the Alien franchise. Pre-con they also revealed the massive Queen Alien, which will go perfectly with Ripley in her Power Loader (a reveal that’s yet to come).

On display today, however, are the two versions of Ripley, one from the original Alien film (boasting a flame thrower and “calm” Jonesy the cat), the other in her spacesuit with an “angry” variant of Jonesy the cat. Says the site, both of the Ripley figures will accompany Dallas in Nostromo space suit and will make up the fourth assortment of Aliens.

I know this is a regular complaint but, where the hell am I supposed to display all of these? NECA is brutalizing me with their 8-bit line and now these. I can’t wait to see what the Power Loader looks like – I can only hope Ripley comes with it. I’d love to see a box set with the Queen where they’re face-to-face. Wet dream? Yes.

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
