I didn’t play either of the first two Doom games until long after their release, but when I did it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the series. There’s something about mowing down hordes of demons and zombies with badass, over-the-top weaponry that appeals to me. I’m sure you understand. I also enjoy getting behind-the-scenes looks at some of my favorite games, seeing how they’re made. It’s one of the reasons why I am in love with art books.
Some Doom II monster models were recently posted on Reddit, and they’re all very cool. I’m especially digging the Arachnotron.
If you really need to get that Doom fix, I suggest you check out the Brutal Doom mod that updates the first two Doom games with modern shooter mechanics and an extra coat of gore. The mod will see a new update soon that will up the brutal factor from 10 to 12, with roughly 200% more giblets and severed limbs.
