Today marks the release of the Twin Peaks blu-ray, which features both seasons and the prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, along with nearly 90 minutes of deleted scenes from both the show and movie. The show has become one of the most beloved TV series’ to ever air, generating a cult following that very few shows can claim to own.
One of the most endearing aspects of the show was the fantastic hypnotic and surreal jazz soundtrack, composed by Angelo Badalamenti, who is the man behind a vast majority of co-creator David Lynch’s films. The soundtrack was one of the few TV soundtracks that earned a gold plaque from the RIAA.
Over at Rolling Stone, they’ve got a very lengthy interview with Badalamenti that is well worth your time if you’re as into the series and its music as I am.
