Four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris has landed a pivotal role in HBO’s “Westworld,” the cabler’s adaptation of the sci-fi hit, THR has learned, while Variety reports The Box‘s James Marsden is set to play Teddy Flood, a mysterious new arrival to a small frontier town. Teddy quickly proves both his charm — and his talent with a revolver — while his pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark odyssey. Harris (The Hours, Pollock, The Truman Show, Apollo 13) will star as ‘The Man in Black’ (see below), described as the distillation of pure villainy into one man.

Eddie Rouse has also been cast for the role of Kissy, a laconic American-Indian who deals cards and contraband from the town saloon.

Inspired by Michael Crichton’s 1973 feature film, the drama is billed as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.

They join a cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Kyle Bornheimer and more.

Scream 7 Courteney Cox

Ghostface will return in Scream 7 for Paramount and Spyglass, and Variety reports this week that franchise mainstay Courteney Cox is in talks to return as Gale Weathers.

Cox’s Gale Weathers has been part of the franchise since the very beginning, with Cox starring in every single installment in the franchise to date. While Dewey Riley was killed off in the fifth installment, Gale just keeps on surviving, most recently beating the odds in Scream VI. How many more massacres can Gale manage to survive? Is her number finally coming up?

It was recently announced that Neve Campbell will also return in Scream 7, with Campbell herself revealing that she’ll be back as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming Spyglass sequel.

Additionally, original Scream scribe Kevin Williamson will DIRECT the film.

Williamson recently wrote on Instagram, “It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise. I am overcome with gratitude and excitement, and I can’t wait to take this journey with Neve and the entire ‘Scream’ family as we bring back Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of the ‘Scream’ franchise. Thank you to all the ‘Scream’ fans. You are the gift that keeps giving.”

The upcoming Scream 7, which is currently untitled, was written by Guy Busick from a story by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick. Stay tuned for more on the film as we learn it.

The franchise has been mired in controversy in the past several months, with new series leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega both exiting the project. Barrera was fired, while it was subsequently announced that Ortega wouldn’t be returning. In the wake of all that news, director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) also departed the project.
