Rob Zombie Wants to Make 'Devil's Rejects' Sequel (or Prequel) - Bloody Disgusting!

Rob Zombie Wants to Make ‘Devil’s Rejects’ Sequel (or Prequel)

Screen shot 2014-08-25 at 2.06.58 PM

Rob Zombie’s a pretty polarizing director in the horror world. Folks seem to either love or loathe his films. For those on the love side of the fence, many argue that The Devil’s Rejects is his best film. It’s gained one helluva cult following over the years but seeing another film with Otis, Captain Spauling, and Baby is rather unlikely.

(SPOILER) Though they met their maker during the grisly climax, Zombie stated in an interview included in the Fangoria Legends issue that he’d love to revisit the characters again if he had the chance:

“I’ve always thought I’d like to make another movie, because I love the characters, and I have an idea I think is solid for a third one – an idea that would make sense. The problem is, I don’t own the characters now. They’re owned by Lionsgate, and they just don’t have any desire to do anything. So it isn’t me not doing it because I don’t want to; I don’t have the ability to get it done.”

You can pick up the Fangoria Legends Presents Rob Zombie issue on their website.

I’m probably more on the side of being not so crazy about RZ’s films, but TDR is badass. I’d get on board with another film. And really, if Michael Myers can come back from a point-blank .357 magnum shot right to the head, there’s no real reason why the Rejects can’t be brought back as well. Hollywood and $$$ gives movie characters strange powers.

    • There’s definitely a difference between Michael Myers and The Devil’s Rejects. Myers is and becoming the non-stop evil force/demon from hell just like Jason, Freddy and Pinhead. In other words, after Myers died so many times, I see the dude as a monster now. The Devil’s Rejects are pure humans. I don’t think Rob would resurrect them from the dead like he did with Michael. I just don’t see that.

If this does happen, it will most likely be a prequel.

      • VictorCrowley

That whole TDR finale sequence could’ve easily been a dream 😉

        • SpaceManSpliffz .

I remember that whole sequence bothering me. I didn’t like that they were glorifying these crazy fuckers that maim and destroy, that whole freebird bit was mega corny and I’m hoping that dream theory you’ve got there might be something along the lines of what he would write if it was a sequel

          • VictorCrowley

Yea, I didn’t particularly care for it. It was the one scene in the movie I wasn’t really on board with. Kinda took all that was great about the film and watered it down in a way. Almost as if Rob really couldn’t figure out how he wanted the movie to end. “Hey, I know: let’s play Freebird and shoot’em up. We can have lots of blood, do that heartbeat tension thing, and fade out to even more gun shots. That’ll work.”

Only thing he forgot is there were miles of open road right behind them when they spotted the roadblock and stopped. I always wondered why they didn’t just turn around and try to get away.

        • That just seems like the easy way around it. Make it a dream so it didn’t really happen.

  • The_Whore_Whisperer

TDR is one of my all time favorite horror flicks. Of course we should have some more.

  • wehoaks

A week ago zombie was an ass to a fan when they asked about a prequel to this film. Now he wants to do it. He is an asshole through and through and a hack.

    • Sean Maclam

Cause you know him so well.

      • wehoaks

Actually, asshat, it was in his q & a with fans. Dolt.

        • Sean Maclam

Oh I’m sorry were you at this Q & A? Cause the guy comes off as nothing but grateful for his fans. You’re just a petty little hater that knows 0 about horror culture. You’re the dime a dozen pissy little Internet troll. You’re Captain Cliche.

          • wehoaks

Cliche? You’re the jackass that just used every internet cliche in the book in one little post. The q & a was done online and was actually advertised here, sweet tits. Now I know, you don’t want to take Rob’s dick out of your mouth, but it’s okay. That skank wife of his has rested her jaw enough. Bahahaha hater troll cliche?? You dumb little slut.

          • Sean Maclam

Lmao fucking dork. I struck a nerve there. Thanks for the hate!

          • wehoaks

Kinda like the nerve I struck with you and your hack Robby boy? I see you sidestepped the fact that you were proved wrong. Kudos douchebag. Keep eating zombie’s jizz.

  • Khy

I think the Firefly clan story has been told. Know when enough is enough. If he want to take the idea and make a comic or graphic novel out of it that would be fine, but we don’t need another movie.

  • Christensen

    He should be unemployed.

  • Killyoself Asap

1000 corpses was better an I’d like to see a prequel with all those characters and more of Dr. Satan.

    • Travis

      Hell yes Dr. Satan

  • Anthony Gulino

There is so much more to be told of the Firefly clan they obviously were getting away with murder and mayhem for years, no they were getting away with it for what seems like generations so they have a lot of room to work with these characters and some new ones also… but what I would most like to see is the Dr.Satan character developed a little more..
I have no problems with what RZ did with the Halloween films only in the second film he went a little off with the supernatural stuff but to me its still light years ahead of some of the other installments.. Im not sure if i can forgive him for “Lords Of Salem” but I think theres a lot he can do with his “Devils Rejects” charachters …
OH and he should keep his wife off screen for this one..

  • Fantasma George

I always figured what would come after Rejects was an adaptation of Nail with Diamond Dallas Page.

  • David Nagle

they be mad not to make sequel or prequel to these movies THEY ROCK 🙂

  • ThunderDragoon

I’m very curious what his idea is. I’d love to see another movie with the Firefly clan.

  • Jak0lantern01

Zombie should treat it as a pseudo-sequel, similar to the way Rejects was to Corpses. I really think he should make his “Unforgiven” with these characters, they’re a lot of fun and Rejects was very western-like.

  • Evan3

Not a Rob Zombie fan at all, but it sucks that the studio won’t just give him the characters back, especially if they don’t intend to use them.

    • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

It’s not as easy as just “giving the characters back”.

Like, they’re making money off of the blu-ray and dvd sales, why would they give them to him?

      • Evan3

You can give the characters back while still maintaining the rights to the films you have made with them.

        • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

          True, but why should they?

          • Evan3

Because they have no interest in continuing the franchise. Why keep it on lockdown? If anything, a new installment will increase interest and sales in the old ones. Win-Win. Plus, you can sell the rights back and make money that way too.

  • Ress EZ

The Devil’s Rejects is definitely THE best film by Rob Zombie. I think what has been portrayed on that movie was totally the opposite of House Of 1000 Corpses (in a good way of course!). As for now, Rob should think of a way to top it with 31. Besides, it’s funded by his fans!

  • ragethorn

    I absolutely LOVE Devil’s Rejects.

  • Nicholas Capertina

Didn’t he already? It was called ‘House of 1000 Corpses’. =P

    • EmmiIndigo

House of 1000 Corpses was the original; Devil’s Rejects is the sequel to that film.

      • Nicholas Capertina

Yeah, so a prequal to Devil’s Rejects would inherently be House of 1000 Corpses. =P

  • deathmonger420 .

I would love to see how the family got so fucked up. like otis and baby as children, maybe otis would be a teen? their parents, grandpa, doctor satan. oh yeah. a prequel would be awesome.

  • Jack Derwent

Mmm as much as I liked TDR I really don’t think a third film would be a good idea at this point. Rejects was the perfect ending to the characters and the odds of him topping it are close to nil.

  • J. Philip vanHeijkoop

I’d love to see a prequel about Dr Satan, it would allow another tonal shift (like de difference between House and Rejects).

  • OceanSlaughter

Lionsgate… stop being a bunch of babies and gives another movie.

  • Str8jacketx

No more, please! His Halloweens and that turd of a flick about Salem.. No MORE!!

  • J. “BahGAWD” R.

Assuming that they all ended up in Hell, THAT would be a badass story to tell.
    The fireflys against the devil!

  • retailemployee

I’d love a prequel about Dr. Satan himself, where we learn his full history- or at least the history as told by a specific cast member. Like say, Captain Spaulding is telling the story to a young Baby, Otis, and all. There could even be a framing story, like every once in a while CS has to cut away from the story to focus on something else, like say a screaming co-ed that is determined to run away from her impending death. It could be that this story is told whenever one of the children gets old enough to join in the “fun”, like an indoctrination of sorts.

    • MikeyRey29

      DR. SATAN!!!!!!!

  • Ian McTeague

I would love for this to be made, though I would worry about the first films amazing reputation being crushed.

  • haruspex

Back when TDR was made, there was a website along with it that listed all of the characters pasts and criminal histories and from what they listed, a prequel would blow TDR out of the water concerning gore, horror & violence and this is coming from someone who thinks TDR is in the top 10 movies of all time and I HATED everything else from Rob.

    • Mary Grover

      Chris Hardwick 🙂 🙂

  • LuJr81

Well, this would obviously have to be a prequel cause they all got blasted at the end. Trying to make a sequel with Otis and Co. just wouldn’t make any sense, I mean its not like they were immortal or bulletproof. When they got shot they got fuckin blasted at least over ten times each lol. I would say just leave it alone and make something else Zombie, I thought it was a satisfying send off for the characters.

  • Chris

I think it could happen.. maybe that was a nightmare baby had while sleeping in the back seat.. granted that was an awesome send off n i couldn’t think of anything better then them telling the law “we choose to die.” But Rob zombie is an amazing n out side off of the box kinda thinker.. he could come up with something bad ass

  • Russ Parkhurst

Zombie should bring them back as zombies!

  • Russ Parkhurst

Make it an over-the-top Doctor Satan movie!

  • Timothy Paich

There should be a direct sequel to House of 1,000 Corpses and as it was years ago the sequel should be set in the 1990’s.
