Here’s 10 Minutes of New ‘Dead Island 2′ Footage

DI2_EU

It’s rare for a series to find its groove three games in, but that’s exactly what developer Yager plans on doing with Dead Island 2. It’s still way too early to tell, but it seems as if Yager has found what worked in the first two games — co-op multiplayer, brutal combat, weapon crafting, open world — and cut out everything that didn’t.

The result is the game you can see in action in the video below, courtesy of Eurogamer. This game is shaping up to be the Dead Island sequel fans have been looking for.

Dead Island 2 arrives on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in early 2015.

    Mkay…

    - So they are giving it a design rehaul and the ‘WRPG elements!’ are out, no need to level up anymore? More along the lines of GTA if that explanation of the map meant anything…

    - Thugs looking to be more varied and again they’ve given them more moves, they also seem faster. But will they still have weapon drops?

    - Didn’t see any money there, so maybe that’s part of the rehaul getting rid of the repair tables to craft new weapons. Does that also mean there’s no need to fix weapons? The prompt that tells you which weapon you could craft is also nice (it was a pain in the ass dredging through all the menus on the first games)…

Maybe Im zombied out, or maybe The Last of Us set a bar, but this footage didn’t appeal to me. I know its pre alpha but these zombies were kinda boring. Im looking more forward to Dying Light.

Interesting but to be honest I would like to see what happened to the survivors in DI:R. And although I will definitely buy it, I would like to see a bit varied zombie types besides the typical suiciders, walkers, fatties, thugs and screamers – they have been in every single zombie game – left 4 dead, left 4 dead 2, dead nation, dead island, dead island riptide, dead space, etc

    This is looking good!

ah im sick of hearing devs always talking about multiplayer
there are more console gamers out there that don’t play or like multiplayer than ones who do

I hope there is a good single player, I don’t do multiplayer at all I don’t see the fun in it. I like games with a good story and POINT to the whole thing…so far I have not heard what the plot or story is for this

I’m sure the solo and multiplayer will be one and the same, and Yager has a history of making games with solid narratives so I don’t think they’ll disappoint us there. It would actually be somewhat impressive if they did disappoint after Techland set the bar so low with the first two games.

Did those games even have stories? All I remember is hours and hours of knocking zombies down so I could stomp on their heads.

I don’t like the notion of crafting out of thin air really. It adds a small level of reality that I appreciated. You had to know the area and plan your stuff out, you weren’t allowed to really just go all Leroy Jenkins on everything. While fun, LOVED Dead Island, will play this for sure. Love the settings!! I find I only play multi player with a select group, randomn multi player is almost a soul crushing event for both men and women if you care about the quality of your experience.

the first one was one of my favorites, ever. this looks amazing. cant wait. zombies and gore usually mean I will LOVE this game. that’s about all I need. I just hope that the dialogue and characters are better, I really didn’t like the ones from the first one at all.
