Cuban triple-threat Alejandro Brugués (Juan of the Dead, ABC’S of Death 2, Personal Belongings) has been tapped to direct the third episode of “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” Season 2. Brugués International career spans from television to film with extensive writing, producing and directing credits. Alejandro joins the previously released list of groundbreaking directors Robert Rodriguez and Eduardo Sánchez.

Season Two explores a new chapter in this supernatural crime saga that expands the universe of our story across two borders from Mexico to the edgy, tricked-out Texas of Robert Rodriguez. It also deepens and complicates the core relationships between the characters, while adding new faces and dynamics. Season Two begins with our characters in their separate worlds – Santánico (González) and Richie (Holtz) are outside Houston, living like Bonnie and Clyde; Seth and Kate (Madison Davenport) are scraping by in the South of the Border; Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) is protecting his wife and young daughter in a Houston suburb: and Carlos Madrigal (Valderrama) and Scott Fuller (Brandon Soo-Hoo) emerge from the Titty Twister, as changed men. They will all come together once again – this time facing off against an even bigger threat.

The returning cast includes: D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, G.I. Joe: Retaliation); Zane Holtz (Holes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower); Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera, Sons of Anarchy); Eiza González (Lola: Érase Una Vez); Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show, To Whom It May Concern); Madison Davenport (Noah, Shameless); Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game, Incredible Crew) Jake Busey (Motorcycle Gang, Contract); and recent cast additions Danny Trejo (Machete, Con Air); Isai Morales (La Bamba, The Brink); and Briana Evigan (Step Up 2).

Additional directors who will be directing episodes this season include creator and executive producer Robert Rodriguez, Eduardo Sánchez (The Blair Witch Project), Joe Menendez (Ladrón que roba a ladrón) and Dwight Little (Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers).

Clive Barker

We told you earlier this month that horror legend Clive Barker is leaving the convention scene behind to focus entirely on his writing, with various upcoming projects in the works.

A series of final appearances from Barker will begin at Days of the Dead Chicago this month, and we’ve learned Barker will also be coming to Monster Mania in New Jersey.

Clive Barker will be signing at Monster Mania 59 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which runs from August 2 – August 4, 2024. Stay tuned for more info from the convention.

Barker’s official statement earlier this month explained, “… it’s time to focus entirely on writing. I’m not stopping public events because I’ve lost delight in meeting you all over the years. I’m as passionate as ever about sharing my imagination with readers and moviegoers around the world. In the very room where I’m writing these words, I have the manuscripts for a very large number of projects (Thirty-one of them), some very close to completion, others still telling themselves. There are some wild projects in this collection of works, whether close to finished or done. There are also stories that you all knew I would be finishing.”

“Abarat IV and V are amongst the books at my feet,” he continued. “So is the Third and final book of The Art and the sequel to The Thief of Always. There are also return visits to characters and mythologies you may have thought I would never return to.

“I hope I am still able to surprise you in the decades ahead.”
