Olive Films Confirms ‘Phase IV’ Blu-ray will be Theatrical Cut
Olive Films just recently announced their Phase IV Blu-ray release, scheduled for October 27th. Since that announcement fans of the film have been wondering if the release would contain the ‘lost’ ending or be the theatrical cut. Olive Films cleared that all up with the following announcement:
“We can confirm we are releasing the original 1974 Paramount Pictures 84-minute theatrical cut, as it is currently the only version available for licensing. We have no doubt that fans of the film will be pleased with the Blu-Ray version, its first time available in HD.”
So maybe we won’t get that ‘lost’ ending, but at least we’re getting the film in HD for the first time. That alone is pretty exciting as far as I’m concerned.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
