Invada Bringing the Glory of “Hannibal: Season 3” to Vinyl [Exclusive]

Published

Although it was pretty much a foregone conclusion, it’s still really exciting for us to exclusively announce that Invada Records are going to be releasing OST for the 3rd season of “Hannibal“, which was composed by Brian Reitzell (Lost In Translation, 30 Days Of Night).

Invada released the OSTs for the first two seasons, which were absolutely stunning. The attention to detail and the packaging is nothing short of amazing, so vinyl collectors are sure to want to pick this up as well. Each season was split into two volumes with each volume receiving two LPS, resulting in four records per season.

Direct from Invada:

Both LPs will be pressed on limited edition coloured vinyl as well as a heavyweight black variant for wax purists. The Lp’s will be housed in gatefold sleeves featuring photography and stills from Season 3 as the artwork & design layout. Both LP’s come with digital download cards.

Talking about the song “Love Crime”, which featured Siouxsie Sioux and was used to close out the series finale, Reitzell explains:

It will be quite emotional, for the fans, and I wanted them to have a souvenir. I wanted them to have a song. I wanted them to have a melody, because I’ve not been able to really do that with this show. But since we’re leaving — or at least taking some time away from the show, whatever the future is — I felt like I needed to give them something. Siouxsie was a fan of the show and she absolutely nailed it.

Reitzell also worked with Marc Almond (Soft Cell, Flesh Volcano) on the track “Snake Charmer”. He describes how this relationship came to be:

I had done a track built around the Mason Verger character and the notion that he was a bit inhabited with this lunatic / Brian Jones / Moroccan / LSD vibe. Marc was at the London premier along with Siouxsie and I think Bryan Fuller playfully asked if I was going to do a song with him. After the show ended I turned the Mason Verger piece into a song and sent it to Marc. He loved it and went into a studio and recorded a bunch of vocals that Ken Sluiter and I then took to finish the track… It’s a fun song, the opposite or maybe the flipside of what I did with Sioux which is fitting for the show with its dreamy yet totally absurd reality.

I’ve written at length before how I think Reitzell’s score to “Hannibal” is an absolute masterpiece. His work helps the show transcend standard fare and elevates it to nearly sublime levels. The deceptive simplicity hides a depth and complexity that mixes wondrous beauty with absolutely terrifying and chaotic dissonance that mirrors the horror of the show, not just in the visuals we witness but in the characters we follow.

As of now, there is no official release date for the vinyl releases but we’ll be here to let you know the moment it’s announced.

Shudder Infested clip, spider horror

Director Sébastien Vaniček has been set to helm the next Evil Dead movie, but up first from the filmmaker is the creepy crawly spider horror movie Infested. An exclusive new clip gives a discomfiting closer look at the spider terror, and it’ll make you intensely afraid of all bathroom drains and fixtures.

Infested will induce a new wave of arachnophobia this week; the spider horror film arrives on Shudder on April 26, 2024.

If you’re brave enough to face your fears, watch the new clip below to get a feel for the unrelenting wave of spiders that the characters (and the audience) will face in the film.

In the film, “An underprivileged suburb has been thrown into chaos following an invasion of venomous spiders. Ordered to be placed in quarantine, the project sees inhabitants living on lockdown alongside terrifying spiders that are becoming bigger and bigger.

“The story revolves around Kaleb, who’s about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over a matter of inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend.

“Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with a venomous spider and accidentally lets it slip away.”

Théo Christine (“Suprêmes”), Finnegan Oldfield (“Final Cut”), Jérôme Niel (“Smoking Causes Coughing”), Sofia Lesaffre (“Les Misérables”) and Lisa Nyarko star.

Florent Bernard co-wrote the script.

In his review out of Fantastic Fest last year, Bloody Disgusting’s Trace Thurman raved that Infested (aka Vermines) is “one of the best spider attack movies in years,” noting in his 4-star review that the creature feature uses practical spiders – REAL SPIDERS – as much as possible. Thurman also wrote that the spider horror movie is “full of moments that will get under your skin (I kicked my legs up more than a few times in my screening).”

The spiders will be everywhere in Infested, are you ready?
