[News Bites] “Black Mirror” Gets A-list Cast; Samuel L. Jackson for Stephen King’s ‘Revival’; Indie ‘Scorched Earth’ Begins Casting

Joe Wright is set to direct an episode of “Black Mirror” for Netflix, with Jurassic World‘s Bryce Dallas Howard, pictured above, and Alice Eve set to star, TheWrap reports.

The revival series had already set an episode starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis.

No details have been revealed, but if it’s anywhere as good as the UK series now streaming on Netflix, we’re all in for a treat.

The streaming service is in the midst of producing 12 all-new episodes of the critically-acclaimed sci-fi anthology series. Production is currently under way overseas.

Big Game

It was announced last week that Josh Boone will put The Stand on the back-burner and instead move forward on another Stephen King story, Revival, which has New Line legend Michael De Luca attached to produce.

Published in 2014, “the book follows a preacher who loses his faith when his wife and child are killed in an accident. He soon becomes obsessed in his experimentation into the healing power of electrical current, positioning him to act as God-like faith healer. Intertwined with the preacher is a young man with demons of his own, who has benefited from the preacher’s talents and becomes a reluctant accomplice to his deadly obsession.

EW is reporting that the preacher could be played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson.

Explains the site, “The character of Charles Jacobs is one of King’s most interesting and complex: he’s a charismatic, small-town preacher who begins experimenting with the supernatural using electricity after his wife and child are killed in an accident. This is a story from the mind of Stephen King, so things only get more twisty and darker from there.”
