“The X-Files” Creator Says Fox Wants Another Season, Possible Third Movie?!

It’s crazy to think the revival of Chris Carter’s “The X-Files” is already over and done with.

Last night’s episode ended with a cliffhanger, which sent the social world into a frenzy of rage. Why? Because it left the door wide open for more, even though nothing is imminent for Carter, as well as stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. Personally, I felt like they answered every question asked in the Season 10 premiere, while also opening new doors for future episodes or movies. If they never happen, I’d be satisfied with this finale.

With that said, Fox wants more. It was quite successful. And creator Chris Carter is open to doing more, it’s just a matter of time and working around everyone’s schedule.

“They’re going to ask for more. The ratings were very good. They were happy with the show,” Carter told THR. “I talked to Dana Walden today. She said they’d very much like more, but nothing’s being negotiated yet.

“It was casual. She said, ‘No pressure. We’d love to do this. We liked the way it worked out.’ So there’s an appetite for more in the future, it’s just a matter of figuring out how to get it done. The last negotiations took about five months, so it could be a while before we figure out how to do this.”

And while it could take months to negotiate out, the biggest hurdle is getting Anderson and Duchovny back for more. While they always have the appetite, there are only so many hours in a day.

“I have been speaking with David pretty regularly. I think he’s game. I have spoken to Gillian less frequently, but I believe she would be game. So I’m just working around their busy schedules. They both have families. It’s another practical matter.”

The revival was a pretty big deal, and has even rejuvenated interest among dormant fans, while also gaining new ones. Would a third “The X-Files” movie be in play? The answer is better than I hoped for.

“They’re two different animals. And the second movie, we tried to do something more akin to the television show. I think if we had to do another movie, it would have to be another tentpole movie — more in keeping with what we did with the first. I think there are a lot more ‘X-Files’ to tell, certainly given this cliffhanger, so I think it opens up both the TV and movie parts of the franchise.”

I am floored that he eludes to the fact that the sequel was a major letdown, and didn’t work. As fun as these new episodes were, I would die to see Mulder and Scully mack on the big screen in a “tentpole” movie that blows the lid off the biggest conspiracy of all time.

Maybe we’ll finally get all of the answers? But I think that’s what’s great about “The X-Files” – even when Mulder and Scully think they’ve figured it out, they never know if they’re pawns in a much larger game. Maybe there is no finale to tell, and that’s sort of cool.

Dev Patel’s ‘Monkey Man’ Is Now Available to Watch at Home!

After pulling in $28 million at the worldwide box office this month, director (and star) Dev Patel’s critically acclaimed action-thriller Monkey Man is now available to watch at home.

You can rent Monkey Man for $19.99 or digitally purchase the film for $24.99!

Monkey Man is currently 88% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with Bloody Disgusting’s head critic Meagan Navarro awarding the film 4.5/5 stars in her review out of SXSW back in March.

Meagan raves, “While the violence onscreen is palpable and painful, it’s not just the exquisite fight choreography and thrilling action set pieces that set Monkey Man apart but also its political consciousness, unique narrative structure, and myth-making scale.”

“While Monkey Man pays tribute to all of the action genre’s greats, from the Indonesian action classics to Korean revenge cinema and even a John Wick joke or two, Dev Patel’s cultural spin and unique narrative structure leave behind all influences in the dust for new terrain,” Meagan’s review continues.

She adds, “Monkey Man presents Dev Patel as a new action hero, a tenacious underdog with a penetrating stare who bites, bludgeons, and stabs his way through bodies to gloriously bloody excess. More excitingly, the film introduces Patel as a strong visionary right out of the gate.”

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Monkey Man is produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
