Arcana 13 Cover the ‘Suspiria’ Theme

There is a lot going on with Dario Argento’s Suspiria these days, specifically with the announcement that Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson will be starring in the remake, which is set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino.

But in the music world, occult heavy rock band Arcana 13, who we featured recently, has released a cover of the infamous theme, which was originally composed by Goblin.

You can hear their cover, which is set to clips from the original film, below.

Gotta admit that for the first couple of minutes I was kinda “meh” about it, but around about the two minute thirty mark it seemed to kick in for me, and got better the longer it went on. As good as the original? No.
But I may check out some of Arcana 13’s other material, as I’m always on the look out for new music.

Wow, this was pretty meh. The keys were no match for Claudio Simonetti’s stellar playing. I won’t say it’s terrible, but its no where near Goblins quality.

I agree, just made me want to listen to the original

The original version just has a very creepy sound to it and it’s really hard to replace anything Simonetti did with his synth sound over some bizarre version like this one. It’s very hard to excuse it because even the footage mixed in just makes this version not blend in too well.

I still prefer the original version but I was glad to hear it. Mostly it reminded me that it’s been way too long since I’ve watched Suspiria!

So, big fans of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, then? This, btw imho, is not a bad thing.

I can understand why some people don’t like Susperia, i don’t agree with them, but i can understand. My wife was one of them, she always saw bits of it and laughed…until i made her watch the whole film, on a rainy night whilst stoned. She was totally engrossed and freaked out…mission accomplished. Now she will always give an Argento classic a go, she still dislikes most of them, but is always willing to have a go. We most recently watched Giallo and Sleepless, she liked both of them.

I love Goblin’s music, Suspiria in particular, and this is just weak. I’m the first to downvote it on YouTube! 🙂
