‘Hellboy 3’: Ron Perlman Says It Probably Won’t Happen

While I don’t like the film’s sequel, I’ve come around on Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy, the 2004 adaptation of Mike Mignola’s comic about a demon raised from infancy after being conjured by and rescued from the Nazis.

A sequel has been in the cards since the 2008 Hellboy II: The Golden Army, although it has never come into fruition. Del toro became quite busy and Universal didn’t seem to hot on keeping the franchise going.

Stories over the years have been back and forth on what to expect, although Ron Perlman, who starred as the title character, has remained adamant that he wants to grow horns for another round with del Toro.

Unfortunately, Perlman is forced to be the bearer of bad news in this new interview over at Variety.

Meanwhile, having mounted a personal campaign to get ‘Hellboy 3’ made, Perlman admitted that it “probably will never happen, though you never say never never.”

Netflix and Amazon have proved that no project is truly dead. If “Fuller House” can exist, anything is possible. Maybe one of them will get behind a third Hellboy?! Let’s see what Kevin Garnett thinks…

“Good evening folks. This is Brad Miska reporting to you live. And telling you shit that you probably already knew”.
“Now let’s go back to Hank in the studio with a sports report.”

The comments are the only reason I Coke to this site anymore.

Well I’d recommend you give it up, drugs are bad, m’kay?

It’s to bad that we have to come to a hack’s site for that enjoyment.

Pixels will get a sequel before we ever get a Hellboy 3.

Indeed, that’s because the general public like to be fed shit and follow the crowd into believing it’s tastes like caviar.
This is why we have McDonald’s.

Hey, Del Toro… do you want to know how to torpedo Hellboy 3 and shelve Pacific Rim 2?? All you have to do is make Crimson Peak BORING AS SHIT and basically Jane Eyre with a ghost every now and then.

Seriously, that moving had ‘Loki fucking’ and I still couldn’t recommend it to people.

I really enjoyed Hellboy 2 and would love a Hellboy 3… even more than I want a sequel to Dredd. I’m a huge fan of Del Toro and love his visual style, but sadly I didn’t enjoy his last film Crimson Peak. Visually it looked stunning and very atmospheric, all the actors performances were solid but overall I found the story lacking and uninteresting.

Fingers crossed he is allowed to make At the Mountains of Madness.

Del Toro was such a promising director and now I really don’t care what he is doing anymore at all

  • Wolf-man

I see a lot of Crimson Peak hate here. I understand. Its not for everyone and I will admit that it is not his strongest film but it is very Del-Toro. He wanted to try something and he doesn’t care if the studio or even people really like it. He makes what he wants and he likes to experiment. I give him credit for that regardless of the quality of film.

    • Crimson peak was ace! I got exactly what I wanted and a technical marvel! Although I would love to see Del Toro going full horror.

  • Adam Palkovits

Nice to know someone else dislikes Hellboy 2

  • The Hellboy movies have been made with so much passion and love and did I mention visual authenticity? I love Hellboy 2 (especially for the not so bad as you think villain and the terrific visuals). It would be great if we get one last chance with Red

Why not go with a different director? Del Toro can just stick with producing since he doesn’t have the time to do it.
