88 Films Poised for a Big Year

Published

on

If you like 88 Films on Facebook you’ve probably noticed these “surprise” announcements they’ve been making. Every Friday for the last month or so the British cult home video distributor has announced a handful of titles that they plan to release.

Fans of 88 Films will be familiar with the various collections the company has. There’s the Italian Collection, the Slasher Collection and just your standard 88 Films release. These new announcements have fallen under all three categories. The details at the moment are scarce. We don’t have the special features or the release dates but we have some awesome artwork. I thought it would be fun to gather up the titles they’ve announced thus far and share them with BD readers.

Please note that 88 Films releases are generally region B. Once we have more details we can confirm that on an individual titles basis, but I believe the majority if not all of their previous releases have been region B. So if these titles interest you, you may want to look into acquiring a region free player.

Absurd
Dir. Joe D’Amato

A priest comes to a small town to help get rid of a monster whose blood coagulates very fast. This creates problems as the monster is very hard to kill and then decides to go on a killing spree of its own.

Aenigma
Dir. Lucio Fulci

The spirit of a comatose teenage girl possesses the body of a newcomer to her girls boarding school to enact bloody revenge against the elitist, lingerie-clad coeds responsible for her condition.

Killer Workout (DVD)
David A. Prior

Two years ago, a young woman named Valerie was burned after entering a tanning salon. Now, her twin sister, Rhonda runs a local gym where all of a sudden, people are being murdered.

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama
Dir. David DeCoteau

Sorority Babes worship an Imp that grants deadly wishes.

Invasion USA
Dir. Joseph Zito

A one-man army comes to the rescue of the United States when a spy attempts an invasion.

Scarecrows
Dir. William Wesley

Criminals hijack a plane and force the pilot and his daughter to land in Mexico. When they land the plane, they find themselves in a cemetery full of evil scarecrows.

Seven Deaths in the Cat’s Eye
Dir. Antonio Margheriti

In a small Scottish village, horribly murdered bodies keep turning up. Suspicion falls upon the residents of a nearby castle that is haunted by a curse involving a killer cat.

Ironmaster
Dir. Umberto Lenzi

A tale that takes place at the dawn of history. The movie tells the story of a tribe that discovers how to fashion weapons out of iron and use them for their own survival. However, the creation of iron also causes the tribe to battle for possession of the new weapons.

Alien 2: On Earth
Dir. Sam Cromwell

Ultra-low budget and very violent rip-off of “Alien”. A space module lands back to Earth after a failed mission, but the astronauts have been replaced by hideous creatures that can penetrate into people’s bodies and make them explode. A group of speleologists are attacked by the monsters inside an underground cave, but the survivors are in for a surprise when they finally manage to escape the trap..
