‘Session 9’ Finally Coming to Blu-Ray Thanks to Scream Factory!

I live in the weak and the wounded…doc.

Session 9, which is one of my absolutely favorite psychological horror/thrillers, is coming to blu-ray thanks to Scream Factory! The release date is August 16th, 2016.

I bought this movie one day when I was down in the dumps and had a $20 gift card to Best Buy. Easily one of the best purchases I’ve ever made because this movie has haunted me ever since I saw it.

Grand, imposing… abandoned and deteriorating, the Danvers State Mental Hospital, closed down for 15 years is about to receive 5 new visitors. Donning protective gear, the men of the Hazmat Elimination Co. venture into the eerily vast and vacant asylum that is filled with an evil and mysterious past. Rampant patient abuse, medieval medical procedure and rumors of demonic possession are some of the many dark secrets the hospital holds – but then so do each of the men.

Starring David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Josh Lucas, Brendan Sexton III, and Paul Guilfoyle, Session 9 was directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist).

Pre-orders are already open for the disc.

When people complain that horror movies aren’t really scary, I always name check this one. Good to see Scream Factory doing right by it!

  • PsychoMantis18

Sweet! Great movie. Doesn’t look too flash though…

  • Meisha’s Taint

Is Scream Factory the company that supports child rapists?

    • La Molcajete

      What the fuck?

      • Derek

He’s talking about the Jeepers Creepers Director, Victor Salva. Because Scream Factory is releasing the Blu Ray versions of Jeepers Creepers 1&2

    • Geno1987

If this is about Victor Salva you might want to know the guy has already gone to jail over his crimes and did his time. How about you start going after Roman Polanski instead?

      • Jack Derwent

Yep. I have no love for Salva but the it’s not like the guy fled justice and gloats about how “everyone wants to fuck young girls” (or “young boys” in Salva’s case). Neither is most of Hollywood bending over to lick his ass like they are with Polanski.

        • Meisha’s Taint

Wait….child rape is OK now as long as you don’t gloat about it?? ? That’s the dumbest fuckin thing I’ve ever heard regarding this topic Jack. You are a fuckin dolt.

          • Jack Derwent

If that’s what you inferred then you lack basic reading comprehension.

      • Meisha’s Taint

He didn’t do his time he only got a few months because of the people he knows look at his mugshot and tell me he learned his lesson.

Also last time I checked Roman isn’t making any films now is he? Salva is getting money to make more films do you understand the difference?

And knock it off with that ” It’s OK to rape a child because someone else I heard of did so to” bullshit that’s a fuckin joke Geno. Roman Polanksi has nothing to do with Victor Salva raping a boy and you know it.

        • Magnus Blomdahl

Roman Polanski is still active as a director, last time I checked that is. He made Venus in Furs three years ago.

        • Geno1987

I guess justice for a criminal is never enough until he’s dead, right?

          • Meisha’s Taint

Justice? Raping a child and getting off with less time than many non violent drug offenders because of the people hee knows and smiling in his mug shot and then making movies about a “creeper” which is known to be Salva who wants kid’s body parts? Disney had to hire someone to follow him around on the set of Powder to make sure he didn’t rape other fucking cast members and you think he learned his lesson and justice is served?

” His body spent SOME time in jail, therefore time has been served. Shut the fuck up and stop supporting child rapists you sound like a fuckin fool Geno.

        • Jack Derwent

Roman made a film with Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet only a few years ago.

    • Jack Derwent

I take it you feel the same way about Criterion then given how they’ve released some of Polanski’s films under their label.

      • Meisha’s Taint

    • Df

What are you talking about? Only thing they support is bringing movies to blu ray and making fans happy. You need to grow up.

  • Geno1987

This movie was the most boring piece of crap I ever watched. I think I fell asleep watching it. Something about janitors breathing dust and going crazy I think?

    • Brain Rotz

I could not agree more. I don’t know what all the hype/love is about with this movie. I saw it years ago and was bored out of my mind. Maybe I need to see it again, I don’t know. My first impression was very similar to yours.

      • Lirabelle

I tend to love slow-burn horror films, but this movie had so much potential that it just squandered. I felt like they didn’t play up the atmosphere nearly enough with this one. I really wanted to love this movie-especially since the game Silent Hill 3 enjoyed making nods to it… but I just don’t.

    • markajacoby

For the love of God! I do not understand the love for this movie. Couldn’t agree with you more Geno1987. I actually watched it a second time to make sure I wasn’t just an idiot and had actually fallen asleep during the first screening and missed something. Clearly I hadn’t. it is so slow with nothing happening. Boring

  • Chaybee

It’s about freakin’ time! Love this film.

  • Ben_Jammin

To no one in particular. Just cuz.

  • Meisha’s Taint

    Anything for a buck huh?

I actually would of bought this Blue Ray too now I fucking can’t thanks a lot. I hope other movies learn from this I won’t ever buy anything made by Scream Factory now ever again because they support a child rapist.

If you team up with Scream Factory you will lose millions it’s not worth it

    • Steven Arthur

      The heck you talking bout’?

  • shawn lawson

You know whos a great company who releases some pretty great horror classics? Scream Factory.
