The Hunt is On in Dutch Survival Horror Film ‘Prooi’

Published

on

A teaser trailer for the Dutch survival horror film Prooi (aka Prey) has been released and can be seen below.

The synopsis, which I have run through Google Translate and then cleaned up a little bit, reads:

After the discovery of the gruesome murder of a peasant family just outside of Amsterdam, police are in the dark about the possible perpetrator. Lizzy, a vet, however thinks she knows what could have caused the bloody mutilations: a sharp, aggressive lion. She is met with disbelief and requires a second bloodbath for the authorities to accept the rigorous plan of an English lion hunter to catch the monster. The hunt is on…

Directed by Dick Maas and starring Sophie van Winden, Julian Looman, and Mark Frost, Prooi will be coming out this October in the Netherlands. There isn’t any word on a US release at this time.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
