New ‘Friday the 13th’ to Feature Jason’s Father?!

Published

on

Five years ago, Brad played an April Fools’ joke on all of us with his story about an unearthed, never-before-seen sequel to Friday the 13th, one which revealed Jason’s father Elias as the new killer. A brilliant idea, it was merely a prank that wasn’t necessarily supposed to go anywhere.

However, it seems that the next entry in the franchise is at least interested in the idea of introducing us to Elias as BMD has found out that Aaron Guzikowski’s script includes a meeting with the patriarch. Elias, who has never been seen in the series, has been alluded to many times in the films and has been seen in comic book form, such as in “Jason vs. Leatherface” and “Friday the 13th: Pamela’s Tale“.

This news comes after Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller explained that the new film will be a new type of origin story that includes Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees.

You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward,” Fuller states. He elaborates on the “origin” concept, saying, “Origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.

You can pick up the Friday the 13th boxset via Amazon.
