‘Ghostbusters’ Trailer: Rowan is the New Stay Puft

Published

on

There’s a new international trailer for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters that doesn’t carry much new footage except for Kristen Wiig screaming, “Ghosts are real!,” to go along with a slew of shots showing just how big Rowan, the film’s villain, will be.

The previous trailer already showed him in full, and teased that he’s this film’s Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, although in here we get to see his body busting through some buildings.

“SNL” vet Neil Casey is the main Ghostbusters villain, Rowan, and was described as a convicted murderer who turns into a ghost after his execution is hit by a supercharged electrical storm. This gives him the power to raise an army of other ghosts, which could be made up of famous villains throughout history.

There’s also something else interesting, discovered by our pals at AICN; if you look closely in the background of the scene where the spooks have taken over New York’s streets you’ll see billboards for Taxi Driver, Isle of the Snake People and Tommy. Does this mean Ghostbusters takes place in the 1970’s?

Featuring Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Ghostbusters power up their Proton Packs on July 15.
