‘Mortal Kombat X’ Has Inspired a Line of Beer

Published

on

“Get over here!” is something I definitely plan on yelling in case I ever find myself sharing a room with a beer inspired by Mortal Kombat X. Sadly, I’m not much of beer drinker, so what happens next is anyone’s guess. I’ll probably have to jam it into the nearest eye socket I can find, since that would show the proper amount of respect for the franchise that inspired it.

This delightful idea comes to us from the Sound Brewery in Poulsbo, Washington, which recently joined forces with Warner Bros. and Global Beverage Traders to sell officially licensed 22-ounce bottles of beer inspired by Raiden, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, because of course they are. The line-up features three limited edition beers with “bold flavors,” including a “Scorpion” imperial stout, a Sub-Zero” imperial IPA, and a “Raiden” imperial saison Belgian-style ale. I think that means Johnny Cage is the MKX equivalent of a Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Here’s some official beer-speak, for those of you who understand it:

SUB-ZERO IMPERIAL IPA (8.5%)

Refreshingly cooling on a warm day, an Imperial India Pale Ale that’s not all about the hops or the malt but is a whole lot of both fighting it out for your palate’s supremacy. Drink icy for more of the hops or warmer for more malt.

RAIDEN IMPERIAL SAISON (8%)

This amped up Imperial Saison has a blast of hops and CO2 that will hit your tongue with a bang. The aroma jumps out of the glass with its earthly and herbal notes not far behind.

SCORPION IMPERIAL STOUT (8%)

A unique blend for great Imperial Stout brings both fire and ice into your glass. The fiery southwest chilies and cooling Madagascar Vanilla Bean pair nicely with the exotic notes produced by our own yeast strain.

Which Mortal Kombat X kombatants deserve their own beer?

‘Alien Hunt’ – It’s an ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’ Mockbuster Rolled into One! [Trailer]

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”

Barron Boedecker (Escape Pod, The Bigfoot Trap), Brent Bentley (The Perfect In-Laws, Haunt Season), Deiondre Teagle (The Visitor, Painted in Blood, Death Ranch), Chelsey Fuller (The Bigfoot Trap, The Silent Natural), Jesse Santoyo (A Nashville Country Christmas, Potter’s Ground), and Adam Pietripaoli (The Bigfoot Trap, The OctoGames) star.
