Two Teens With Down Syndrome May Have the Best Summer Zombie Movie (Trailer)

Published

on

Allow me to introduce you to best friends Sam and Mattie, two guys with Down Syndrome who also happen to have successfully Kickstarted a movie. What kind of film, you ask? Well, we’re on a horror website so I’m guessing you put two and two together pretty quickly and figured out that they’re after some serious bloodshed! In fact, they’re aiming to create the, “…most epic “teen zombie movie” ever“!

The end result of their near $69,000 campaign is the creation of Spring Break Zombie Massacre, which stars Sam and Mattie as high schoolers who get caught up in a zombie invasion and have to take them out while protecting their friends. The movie even caught the attention of “Jersey Shore” personality Pauly D, who participated in the movie for free.

Now, it’s been a while since the campaign ended, so naturally people have been wondering when they’re going to see a final product. As luck would have it, today sees the release of the film’s trailer, which you can watch below. It’s packed with zombies (obviously), demons, bionic experiments, boat parties, skateboarding, and pretty much everything else you can imagine a teen movie having.

What I love about this trailer is that it’s obvious just how much enthusiasm and passion both Sam and Mattie had in creating this. It’s cheesy, it’s ridiculous, it’s over the top, and it’s exactly the kind of thing that reminds me just how much joy horror can bring. These guys busted their ass to make a movie and it honestly looks like a lot of fun. Kudos, gents!

The premiere will be happening July 7th in Rhode Island at the Columbus Theater in Providence. Tickets are still available and information can be found here.

Matilda Firth Joins the Cast of Director Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ Movie

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
