Effects Master Rick Baker Wins Halloween With His Incredible ‘Tales from the Crypt’ Costume

Because of course he did. Of. Course.

Not only did Rick Baker win the very first Academy Award for makeup effects, thanks to his incredible work on An American Werewolf in London, but he subsequently went on to win the award a record-breaking seven times from a record-breaking eleven nominations. Sadly, Baker retired from the makeup world last year, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still putting his skills to use.

As shown off over on his Twitter account (@TheRickBaker) this week, the makeup master is playing the role of Arthur Grimsdyke for Halloween this year, a character you may remember from the original 1972 Tales from the Crypt film. Grimsdyke, played by Peter Cushing, was an old man who returned from the dead, and Baker went all out to transform into him.

He tweeted:

Tested my Halloween party makeup today. #Grimsdyke. Fabricated out of cotton & latex. Hard to shoot a selfie with black fabric on your eyes.

Check out Baker’s handiwork below, which proves he’s damn sure still got it!

Oh and if you want to see fellow makeup master Greg Nicotero’s tribute to Grimsdyke, watch “The Walking Dead” episode ‘What Happened and What’s Going On’; a zombie featured in the episode looks exactly like the iconic Cushing character!
