Here’s Robert Englund’s Halloween 2016 Horror Movie Marathon

Are you ready for Freddy’s playlist?

There’s no better way to spend Halloween than by sitting around and watching horror movies all day, and thanks to networks like AMC and Syfy, you never even have to get up off the couch or decide what to watch. But if you’re not happy with what’s being shown on TV, why not let Robert Englund make all the tough choices for you?

After all, we’ve got a feeling he knows his horror.

Over on the official @RobertBEnglund Twitter account, the greatest living horror icon of the modern era just shared a list of horror flicks he wants you to watch on the big day, and he fittingly dubbed the playlist “Freddy’s Halloween Movie Marathon.” Three of his own movies made the cut, including one select Nightmare on Elm Street film:

Freddy’s Halloween movie marathon: DePalma’s SISTERS, NIGHTMARE 7, BEHIND THE MASK, LAST SHOWING, BONE TOMAHAWK.

Best with cold pizza.

Great choices across the board, with Behind the Mask, New Nightmare, and Bone Tomahawk being personal favorites of mine. Englund himself stars in Behind the Mask and New Nightmare, along with Last Showing, while Bone Tomahawk is a brutal slow-burn western that you NEED to see. And of course, you can never go wrong with De Palma.

As for the cold pizza, our only recommendation is that you hold the meatballs!

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
