Original ‘Fright Night’ Getting New Blu-ray Release; 4K Restoration!

This is so cool, Brewster.

Last year saw the release of a limited edition Fright Night Blu-ray from Twilight Time, which quickly sold out and has subsequently been fetching ridiculous prices over on eBay. The Blu-ray, limited to just 5,000 copies, often sells for well over $100, but if you decided to hold out rather than drop that kind of money, we’re happy to report that your patience is now rewarded.

UK company Eureka Entertainment will be releasing a brand spankin’ new Fright Night Blu-ray on April 10th, 2017, and the special edition offering boasts a 4K restoration that we cannot wait to sink our fangs into. The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is already up for pre-order, so if you don’t yet have a region free player, we’re thinking now is the perfect time to grab one.

Special features, you ask? We’ve got you covered:

  • 4K digital restoration
  • Original stereo PCM soundtrack and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio options (on the Blu-ray)
  • English subtitles for the deaf and hearing-impaired
  • You’re So Cool, Brewster! A new two-hour version of the definitive 2016 documentary on the making of Fright Night, focusing on the first film, created exclusively for this release
  • What is Fright Night featurette, a 2016 video piece featuring cast and crew interviews (BLU-RAY ONLY)
  • Tom Holland: Writing Horror, a 2016 video piece featuring interviews with Holland and his collaborators (BLU-RAY ONLY)
  • Rowdy McDowall: From Apes to Bats, a 2016 video piece featuring archival footage of McDowall and cast and crew interviews (BLU-RAY ONLY
  • Fear Fest 2 2008 reunion panel featuring Tom Holland, Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Stephen Geoffreys, Amanda Bearse, Jonathan Stark and moderated by Rob Galluzzo (BLU-RAY ONLY)
  • Shock Till You Drop Present Choice Cuts with Tom Holland and Ryan Turek, a three-part video interview on the film (BLU-RAY ONLY)
  • The full electronic press kit, featuring extensive on-set interviews and behind-the-scenes footage (BLU-RAY ONLY)
  • Stills and memorabilia from Tom Holland’s personal collection (BLU-RAY ONLY) | G-rated and R-rated theatrical trailers (BLU-RAY ONLY)

Check out the gorgeous Blu-ray trailer and box art below!

In Fright Night:

He’s sweet, sexy, and he likes to get in late. You might think he’s the perfect neighbour. But before inviting Jerry in for a nightcap, there’s something you should know. Jerry prefers his drinks warm, red, and straight from the jugular! It’s Fright Night, a horrific howl starring Chris Sarandon as the seductive vampire and William Ragsdale as the frantic teenager struggling to keep Jerry’s deadly fangs out of his neck.

Only 17-year-old Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) knows Jerry’s bloodcurdling secret. When Charley can’t get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), who used to be the “Great Vampire Killer” of the movies. Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy (Amanda Bearse) from the wrathful bloodsucker’s toothy embrace? If you love being scared, Fright Night will give you the nightmare of your life!

Way to excite people. Both not a 4K Blu-Ray and only to be released in the UK.

    • Saturn

Well for us uplift party mofo’s in the UK who often get screwed when it comes to awesome Blu’s which are only for the US……this is so Brewster cool…..

I shall be owning that badboy.

    • PsychoMantis18

Neck up and buy a region free player then. It’s usually the US that get’s all the good releases anyways..

      Blu-ray Karma.

    • John Connor

It’ll make it to the U.S. eventually.

  • Richter Belmont

Yes, finally! Screw you, Twilight Time, for making Fright Night limited to 5000 copies.

Now, I just have to wait for a Dark Shadows 1991 TV series restoration to Blu-Ray.

  • Justin McGill

screw it.. I already have the doc pre-ordered and I have the region free BLU already… so I get the full length doc and the movie.. I’d like the new transfer.. but oh well.. I can hold off until we get a FULL ON 4k disc release since the master is already done..

I was able to get both of Twilight Time’s releases on time, as well as the Zavvi steelbook before it sold out.

  • Terry Powell

Just got mine. Its region free (though oddly, it says all regions but lists it under the description on the box as region B, but it plays on my players just fine).
