Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Captain America: Civil War, “Sherlock”) stars in Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling’s forthcoming UK zombie pandemic thriller Cargo as “…a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.” An updated synopsis also adds that “Salvation may lie with an isolated Aboriginal tribe, but to gain access he must first earn the allegiance of a young Indigenous girl on a tragic quest of her own.”
The thriller is now completed and in post-production, putting it before buyers at the forthcoming EFM in Berlin. Bloody Disgusting, thanks to Fabien M., have the stunning first images that show Freeman with his daughter.
The full cast includes Martin Freeman, Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade and Simone Landers with David Gulpilil.
Cargo is being produced by Kristina Ceyton, who produced 2014’s critically acclaimed psychological horror film The Babadook. She stated ahead of production: “Martin Freeman is a singular talent who will add such depth and emotional sophistication to the role, and we know will make this story come alive in an unexpected and deeply moving way.“
The film is based on Ben Howling & Yolanda Ramke’s short film of the same name, which can be seen below.
