Paramount Also Just Pulled ‘World War Z 2’ From Release

Another one bites the dust.

Scheduled for release on June 9th of this year, we were pretty damn certain that the sequel to 2013’s World War Z was at some point going to be pushed back; after all, filming hasn’t begun and a director isn’t even locked in. Last we heard, Brad Pitt wanted David Fincher to direct, and though that could still happen, today we bring the news we knew we were going to eventually report.

Paramount just pulled the tentatively titled World War Z 2 from the release schedule. Based on what we’re hearing, they’re now looking to a 2018 or 2019 release.

Around this time last year, director Juan Antonio Bayona departed the project.

More as we learn it.

After they saw Brad bitching about horror movies with big budgets and actors re-using the same old storyline I’m sure they decided to pull this… I mean – it wouldn’t be original in any way would it? So according to Brad what’s the point?

Fuck it then, dump Brad and bring on The Rock! Hahaha

WTF is going on over at Paramount? first FRIDAY THE 13TH and now WWZ 2?

  • WALKTER

There’s like a gagillion comments on the Friday the 13th articles, and how many here?
Poor World War Z, nobody loves you.

    • J Jett

      i loved WWZ….just sayin’. 🙂

  • Rez

I actually liked WWZ but it is no surprise though…WTF is up with Paramount? I would expect this from the WB, it just seems like these studios have people running them that dosen’t know shit about movies or what people really want to see!

  • Creepshow

    Goodnight…World War Zzzz. Goodnight.

  • Runciter

    well, fuck.
the first one didn’t deserve all the shit it got, but they definately didn’t seem to know what the fuck were they trying to do with that one either…

How did it not deserve all the shit it got? It took a fairly unconventional and unique take on a zombie story, and turned it into just another generic zombie movie. It’s NOTHING like the book it is based on. Like, seriously, that’s not just taking liberties with the story, but showcasing you never even touched the novel you’re adapting.

WWZ always would have worked best as a faux-documentary TV series if you ask me.

      • oh_riginal

Complete with “re-enactments” for any action scenes, like the Battle of Yonkers or the ocean zombies from the submarine story, or the Japanese kid who became a samurai.

      • Mike tantatelli

Good call. Or like an anthology would work too. The book was basically a bunch of short stories anyways ya know.

      • Runciter

oh, sorry fuck me for not reading the original material

  • Dennis Chenier

This sucks the big one. I loved WWZ and was anticipating the sequel. This better not stay dead.

  • Josh_the_Jawa

    Thank God.

  • Chance LeBoeuf

This could be a good thing. WWZ didn’t need a sequel, it needed to be remade. By people who, you know, actually read the fucking book. I’m cool with films taking liberties when it comes to adaptions because sometimes they have to, but this was seriously WWZ in name only.

  • shane

waiting for this movie is like waiting for santa, the wait is fun and then you actually get your gift and its total shite.

  • zombie84_41

prob for the best. I was expecting this more. They could of added more from the books.

  • Evan3

I still would really love for Fincher to come on board. Seeing what he would do in a true horror context would be welcome (and it would be the only Fincher film since Social Network that I would have even the remotest interest in seeing). And let’s not forget, World War Z went through a ton of upheaval before it was made, so don’t count this movie dead for good (pun… INTENDED!)

  • Mike tantatelli

That sucks. I liked the first one but it could have/should have been way better. Barely any blood and gore for a zombie flick. And the only thing close to the book about the movie was the title. I don’t mind waiting as long as they make it worth it, but I won’t get my hopes up. That’s how you get let down. A zombie movie that needs to be made based on a book is “Day By Day Armageddon.” Great fuckin book and would make a killer movie. Now that’s one I’d like to see.

  • Shawn Simpson

Good…..we already have a perfect sequel to World War Z and its called Train To Busan! Just watch that instead. Its actually a good movie.

  • Darren Kerr

Probably on my own here, but I always thought a mini-series filmed in a docu-drama style would have worked brilliantly for this.
And it certainly would have kept the spirit of the book.

      Biggest yup in the universe

  • lonestarr357

At the very least, I would’ve loved to see if this film did away with the unintentional comedy of the first one (the scientist falling down and shooting himself in the head = comedy gold).

  • Alanmac

Well at least theres SOME good news from Paramount this week.

  • Chris Genth

Paramount suck, first Friday bites the dust now this. Why don’t u fuckers put out what the fans want.

  • Halloween_Vic
