WWE Studios Developing Remake of Norwegian Slasher ‘Cold Prey’

Published

on

Released in 2006, Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug’s Cold Prey (aka Fritt Vilt) is one of the best slasher films to come along in recent years, spawning a sequel in 2008 and a prequel in 2010. To date, Cold Prey 3 still hasn’t even been released on home video here in the States, but maybe that will change now that an English-language remake is in the works.

Deadline just broke the news that WWE Studios has acquired the remake rights to Cold Prey, and they’ve also sealed a deal for an option to purchase a screenplay currently being penned by Casey La Scala (The Remaining). The film, being described as The Grey meets The Revenant, will center on a strong female character who reaches the limits of physical and mental endurance.

In Cold Prey

A group of friends decide to ski out of bounds and are forced to take shelter when a storm hits, finding themselves imprisoned in an abandoned ski lodge along with a maniacal killer.

Michael Luisi, WWE Studios President, will oversee for WWE and will produce along with La Scala. Marius Haugan will executive produce.
