Don’t expect to see Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Predator.
Scripted by Fred Dekker and Shane Black and set to be directed by Black, we can be pretty sure that next year’s The Predator is going to put several fresh coats of paint on the tired franchise. Black has promised an action spectacle the likes of which the series hasn’t ever seen, and star Boyd Holbrook has just echoed the same sentiments in a chat with We Got This Covered.
Holbrook, who’s playing the heroic Quinn McKenna, told the site:
I’m currently working on Predator. It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.
As we recently told you, it’s been rumored that the new film will feature a 10-foot-tall, genetically enhanced Predator. It’s also been rumored to be set in the suburbs.
The cast includes Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. Thomas Jane is also rumored. Kyle Strauts will play the Predator.
Black co-wrote the script with Fred Dekker and is directing.
Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the sci-fi action franchise plans to film in Vancouver this coming February with a release date set for February 9th, 2018.
