There’s an Interesting Added Shot in the New ‘Alien: Covenant’ Red Band Trailer

Published

The path to paradise begins in Hell.

We told you earlier in the week that a brand new red band trailer for Alien: Covenant was going to be attached to Logan this weekend, and we were correct about that. The trailer, which just hit the net, is virtually the same as the crazy cool one we already saw on Tuesday night, but there are some minor differences that at least make it worth bringing to your attention.

The new trailer features an added shot from the original trailer, a tad bit more blood, and even an F-bomb, but the most interesting thing is the shot you’ll find at 1:44. That shot (above) shows what looks to be a skinned corpse that we can only assume, based on things we’ve heard, is part of David’s mad scientist laboratory where he’s experimenting on the Engineers.

Why was this removed for the green band trailer? Beats the hell out of us, but it makes for a fun little Easter egg in the new one that should hold you over until we see more.

Check out the mostly-the-same red band trailer below.

Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice, Jobs, The Babysitters) stars with Michael Fassbender returning as Prometheus‘ android David (and Walter), with a crew that includes Demian Bichir and Danny McBride (“Eastbound and Down”), as well as Alex England (Gods of Egypt), Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die, “The Killing”), Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills). James Franco also has a role.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition

Ridley Scott had previously promised to answer questions that left Prometheus viewers confused: “Covenant is really going to show you who did it and why.”

Alien: Covenant takes off for Paradise on May 19, 2017.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

New ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Movie in the Works from Director Lindsey Anderson Beer

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
